In loving memory

Wilma Gail Springer
January 1916 - November 3, 2009

KEIZER- Wilma Gail Beck was born in Riley, Kansas to Arthur and Nora Beck. She was the fourth girl of eight children, weighing 4 pounds, which included her diaper. She was raised in the country and attended school until help was needed at home with the other children. She loved school; spelling and math were areas in which she excelled. Wilma, or Gail as many of the family called her, married Floyd Springer in her early twenties. They had three children Jackie, Raymond and Robert. In 1943, just two weeks after the birth of their third child, they moved to Oregon to find work. Floyd and Wilma owned a mini farm on Wheatland Road for many years; they were well known in the area for the abundant and beautiful daffodil field as well as the produce that they raised and sold annually.
Wilma had a servant’s heart, was loving, intelligent, quick witted, ornery and a great homemaker. She loved her children and grandchildren a great deal. If anyone stopped by, she would stop whatever she was doing and sit down for coffee and dessert.

She is survived by two sons and their spouses, Ray and Dixie of Silverton; Robert and Laurie of Keizer; eight grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her sister Elizabeth Beams. Wilma was preceded in death by her daughter Jackie and her husband Floyd.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Salem Evangelical Church. Suggested remembrances: Willamette Valley Hospice or Salem Evangelical Church. Arrangements by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Services.
