Bill Rawlins, 85, was born Billy Jack Rawlins, in Tyrone, Oklahoma on September 8, 1924 to Fred and Maude Rawlins. He later changed his name to William Jackson, although to many he was lovingly referred to as “Billy”. Bill had eight brothers and one sister. In 1936, when Bill was 12 years old, the family moved to Salem, Oregon where he later graduated from Salem High School in 1942. After graduation, Bill served during World War II in the US Navy where he saw combat in the South Pacific. Bill married his high school sweetheart, Janice Judson on June 16, 1944. Bill and Janice had three daughters with one daughter, Gail, passing in infancy. In 1960, the family moved to Ventura, California where Bill worked for Masterson Motors. He was the leading salesman and later the sales manager until his retirement to Salem, Oregon in 1974. Early retirement was not for Bill, his energy and diplomacy, coupled with his natural skill at negotiating lead him to join his brothers and nephews in the family business, Rawlins Realty. Bill lost his wife, Janice, to cancer on August 4, 1982. On May 15, 1984 Bill married the new love of his life, Corrinne Anderson. Bill and Corrinne continued to reside in Salem, where together they worked in real estate for approximately the next 17 years. Bill’s competitive edge in business over flowed to the golf course and tennis court, he loved being active and excelled at both sports. In addition, Bill took great pride in creating a home where all were welcome and his passion for his yard and flowers could flourish. He was a man who stopped to smell the roses, marveled at creation, and appreciated every sunset. It goes without saying that Bill was a family man and strong Christian. He is survived by his loving wife Corrinne, daughters Linda Shores (Dennis), and Patti Fearn (Paul) plus grandchildren, Corey Shores, Dane Shores (Michelle), Bryan Fearn (Sody), Trevor Fearn (Kathie), Toby Fearn, and seven great grandchildren.
