Salem - Bill Olson, 96, passed away peacefully in his home on Wed. Nov. 11th after a brief illness.
Bill was born in Salem, OR and spent his entire life in the Salem area. He graduated from Salem high school. He married Barbara Brown in June 1936. Barbara preceded Bill in death on Oct.1987.
Bill is survived by his three sons, Denny (Andrea), Keith (Nancy), and Stuart (Kristina); six grandchildren, Tracy Olson, Russ Olson, Caryn Tulk, Greg Olson, Darin Olson, and Chris Olson; and four great-grandchildren.
Bill was a life long farmer and one of the first peach farmers in the Willamette Valley. He operated “Olson Fruit Farms” southeast of Salem. He was an avid fisherman and was known to regularly catch his limits of salmon and steelhead along the Oregon coast.
Funeral services will be held at Golden Funeral Home in Salem on Monday Nov. 16th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may me made to a favorite charity.
