In loving memory

WILLIAM D TISCORNIA
May 5, 1926 - October 31, 2009

Born May 5, 1926 in Merced, California, died October 31, 2009, at home in Salem, Oregon.
 
Bill was born to George and Stella Tiscornia, whose family lineage included may California gold-rush settlers, in the Coulterville – Mariposa area. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and later in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
 
He was a longtime Merced businessman. He was a proud founding member of the Merced County Sheriff’s Posse, having served as Captain twice. He was instrumental in the United States Marshal’s Posse, serving as both an officer and Captain. An honorary life member of the American Legion, he also was a member of the Italo-American Lodge in Merced. He was actively involved with the Northern Mariposa History Center, of Coulterville, California. He was an officer and volunteer with the Merced SPCA, having been a life long friend of all animals.
 
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, James. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susan; his son, Victor, daughter-in-law Kelly; grandson James, and granddaughter Marie, all of Salem; and his sisters, Inez Stevenson and Donnis Epps of Merced.
 
Arrangements are pending. Burial will be in Merced. Suggested remembrances: Willamette Valley Hospice, Salem, Oregon; the Northern Mariposa History Center of Coulterville, California; or the donor’s local humane society. Arrangements by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
