Salem – Ted T. Kightlinger passed away on Jan. 6, 2009. Ted was born in Leeds, Iowa on Nov. 11, 1918 to Charles and Lucy Kightlinger. He moved to Oregon in 1939 and began working for Gilmore Oil Company in Portland. Ted found the girl of his dreams in Salem and married Mildred Beach in June of 1946. They moved to Salem in 1949 where later Ted started D & L Oil supply. He was a member of the elks Club, a Mason and member of the Keizer Masonic Lodge No. 219 AF & AM, a member of the Al Kader Shrine Temple in Portland and Ted was also a member of the Royal Order of the Jesters. With the Shriners he participated in the Salem Shrine Patrol, the Shrine Hospital in Portland, and was chairman of the Salem Shrine Circus in Salem for 10 years. In addition, he enjoyed hunting and fishing in Oregon, Idaho Alaska and Mexico.
Mr. Kightlinger is survived by his two daughters, Linda in Olympia, Washington and Donna in sisters, Oregon. Two grandchildren Tyson and Caresse and a great granddaughter Ariana Faith and his sister Carol Williams in Kentucky.
Visitation will be Tuesday Jan. 13th from 1pm – 6 pm at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Wednesday Jan. 14th at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
His final resting place will be beside his beloved wife, Mildred, at Belcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children 3101 SW Sam Jackson Park Rd Portland, OR 97239.
