Salem- Originally from Chicago, Russ lived in Salem since 1969. He died on Sunday from cancer. He was an avid reader, a lover of jazz music, and could not be beat at trivia. He was always ready with a wry joke, and his sense of humor was appreciated by all who loved him. He was preceded by son Michael and survived by daughter Karen and two grandchildren.
An informal memorial service will be held graveside at Belcrest Memorial Park near the pond on Friday, October 16 at 11 am. Gifts in his memory can be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (1-800-FIGHT-CF) or Oregon Public Broadcasting (
