Beaverton - Robert William Shepard, 78, of Beaverton, Oregon, passed away June 19, 3009, from Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Bob was born on March 12, 1931 in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, Canada, son of the late Floyd and Evelyn Shepard. He graduated from Salem High School in 1948. Bob attended Oregon State University, and graduated from Willamette University in 1953 with a Bachelor Degree in Economics. While attending Willamette, Bob lettered in basketball, and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Air Force, 1st Lieutenant, and Intelligence Officer in the Far East. Bob was employed by Standard Oil Corp., Merrill Lynch, and was with U.S. Bancorp for 25 years as Senior Investment Officer in the Trust Division, before retiring in 1993.
Bob married JoAnn Hoover on December 30, 1961. He was a long time member of the Oregon State University Beaver Club, and past president.
Bob is survived by his wife, JoAnn; daughter, Amy and grandchildren Michael, Stephanie, and Christina of Seattle; son, Michael, daughter-in-law, Robin, and grandchildren Quinn and Mia, currently living in Guangzhou, China; sisters: Helen Alexander, Sydney Fredrick, Susan Hagan and brother-in-law Jim Hagan.
Bob will be interred in Salem, City View Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2009 from 3-6 PM at Bob’s favorite restaurant, The Stockpot at Red Tail Golf Course, 822 SW Scholls Ferry Road, Beaverton, OR 97008.
