Rita Jean Carney

Bend – Rita Jean Carney loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend was taken on the wings of angels June 1, 2009
Rita was born in Chadron, Nebraska on Sept. 29, 1920 to Albert an Edith Eitemiller. The family moved to Denver, Colorado where she attended school. She married and moved to California and on to Oregon. She raised her family of three, Richard Raymond & Rita. She worked as a bookkeeper most of her life retiring from the State of Oregon. She attended St. Vincent de Paul Church and was active in visiting and taking communion to the sick. Her love and belief in Jesus Christ, her family and friends were always her priorities in life. She loved to work in the yard, cut and sew quilt blocks, travel and spend time with family. She moved to Bend, Or in 2000 where she spent her final years.
 
Rita is survived by her son, Richard Carney, her daughter Rita Barber, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four siblings, her son Raymond Carney and three great grandchildren. Those who knew her will remember her for her strength, independence, determination, and great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.
 
Visitation will be Thursday, from 1pm – 4 pm at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
 
The celebration of Rita’s life will be Friday, June 5, 2009 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1010 Columbia NE Salem. The rosary will begin at 1:30 pm followed by mass and burial at Belcrest Memorial Park, 1295 Browning Ave S, Salem, Ore.
 
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Union Gospel Mission, Salvation Army or your charity of your choice in Rita’s name.
