Salem. Our loss became heaven's gain when our beloved Norma passed away on July 21st. Norma, called "Mama" by nearly all who knew her, was born and raised in Lebanon, Tennessee. In the true sense of a 'southern belle', she was known for her grace, her strength, her humor, her immeasurable compassion & capacity for love, her sweet southern drawl and the miracles she performed in her kitchen. Norma found the perfect career when she decided to become a nurse. She applied her skills in Tennessee and upon her move to Florida, found her true calling when she went to work for a nursing home. She continued her devoted care for the elderly upon her return to Tennessee and until recently, here in Oregon. Her love for her patients knew no bounds and till the day she died she still received cards & calls from families who's loved ones she had cared for.
Among her family & friends, Norma was who everyone called for advice, for love, for friendship and for solace. She was always there to lend a shoulder to cry on and a hand to hold. Of the overwhelming sympathy her family has received, the majority refer to her as "their second Mom", and credit her with part of the reason they became the person that they are, a person whom she would be proud of. She was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Woodall, her brother, Tony Woodall and is survived by her daughter, Donna McCario, grandson, Dylan Morris, sister, Sabra Todd, brother John Woodall and his wife, Faye, many nieces, nephews, their offspring, (all of whom she considered, 'her own'), and countless friends. She touched so many lives and we are all so blessed to have known her. She will live forever in our hearts. We will miss you Miss Norma.
