SALEM - Nellie (Rock) Fitch, 76 of Salem died Thursday at home. She was born to Joe and Mabel Rock in Halfway, OR. She attended school in Carson, Jim Town and Halfway grade schools, graduating from Halfway High School in 1952. She was Baker County Fair Rodeo princess while in high school and returned to Halfway in 1996 to ride in the 75th Court Reunion in the parade.
She married Paul Fitch in 1952 and lived in Bates and Halfway until moving to the Willamette Valley in 1959. She was a homemaker until her oldest daughter entered junior high. She then went to work at the State Corporation Division retiring in 1993. After retiring she took up sewing, crafts and cookie baking again as well as spending time at the family beach house in Newport.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Paula Fitch and Joette Williams, both of Salem; granddaughter, Kimbrie Williams of Aloha; brother, Don Rock of Hermiston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Memorial Day weekend in Halfway. Arrangements by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
