SALEM – Nathalie Mary Capps Aziz passed away on January 15, 2010 at Salem Hospital following complications from Parkinson’s disease. She was born in Detroit, Michigan to Elton and Margaret (Dickson) Capps with siblings including sisters Dorothy and Helen; and brother Sidney.
Nathalie met her future husband, Edmund Aziz at the age of 14, in Detroit, and they were married July 7, 1944. During WWII, Ed served in the United States Navy, while Nathalie was a homemaker. It was at this time they had a daughter, Jeanette. They then moved to Southern California in 1946.There they had four sons; John, Kenneth, Stephen and Paul. Nathalie was a wonderful homemaker as she and Ed raised their children. Nathalie also owned a statuary shop in Hawthorne, California during the 1970’s as well as being an executive secretary for 13 years to the President of TRW in El Segundo, California.
She will be not only remembered for being an amazing “people person” who always had a smile for everyone she met but also as someone who felt immense patriotism for the United States clearly demonstrated by her vast collection of red, white and blue Americana! Edmund and Nathalie moved to Keizer in 1992. She enjoyed living in Oregon and getting to spend time with her great-grandchildren as well as playing bingo at the Salem Senior Center. Edmund and Nathalie had celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2009.
Nathalie is survived by her husband, Edmund, daughter Jeanette and son-in-law Tom, son John and daughter-in-law Cindy; sons Kenneth, Stephen and Paul; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Viewing will take place Tuesday, January 19th from 4:00-8:00 PM and Wednesday, January 20 from 8:00-10:00 AM at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service. A family graveside service is planned at Belcrest Memorial Park on Wednesday morning followed by a celebration of life at 12:30 PM at Salem Alliance Church, 555 Gaines St. NE.
