Salem - Miriam Stapp passed away August 14th at the age of 83. She was born Miriam Louise Webster, on June 4, 1927 in Melbourne Florida, to Perley and Glenn Webster. In 1943 Miriam, her parents, and sister, Betty (Joiner) McGown, moved from Florida to Klamath Falls, Oregon. She graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1946. On June 25, 1946 she married Robert N. Stapp and together they celebrated 64 years of marriage. Robert preceded her in death on June 28, 2010.
Miriam and Robert had four children, Miriam Cheryl, Robert Glenn, Philip Webster (who died as an infant) and Colin Webster. Miriam also had two loving grand-children Michelle Lynn and Ryan Philip. She was known as “Grammy” to her four great-grand children, Sierra Ryan, Mykenzie Lynn, Emma Brenn and Ayden Ryan.
Miriam had a love of music. She learned to play the piano at young age and sang in high school ensembles. As the wife of a minister, Miriam supported husband Robert, as church pianist, organist and singing in church choirs. She taught bible study classes and for many summers led vacation bible school at the various churches where they served.
Miriam worked outside the home at various times through out her life, but she considered herself a home-maker and took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all who visited. She was a spirited woman, who demonstrated love, kindness and compassion to all whom she came in contact with.
Miriam was a faithful member of Capital Baptist Church and had personal faith in God. She participated in many church events and activities with her long-time friends. Her church family and friends was her social network and were as important to her as immediate family.
Heartfelt gratitude goes out to the staff of Salem Hospital, who provided outstanding medical care and support for Miriam; to the members of Capital Baptist Church, who through the years provided spiritual care and support for both Miriam and her family; and to loving neighbors who looked out for her and helped in many ways.
