Salem – Matthew was born in San Luis Obispo, California on August 24, 1956. He was the fourth of six siblings born to Larry Pasqual and Juanita Castanares Icalia.

 

Matthew was never married, but enjoyed spending time with family making memories. One of his favorite hobbies was baking. He was the family cookie and cake guru a title he held with great pride. No one could bake like Matt. He enjoyed taking the kids to scary movies, collecting Coke memorabilia, and anything done with frogs. Matthew was a shy fellow the least expected prankster, but none the less a prankster extraordinaire. He was the Christmas game master requiring participation by all no matter how embarrassing, but always providing great entertainment and lots of laughs. Matthew always showed unconditional love not in words, but by actions.

 

Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents Santos and Temotea Cabales and parents Larry and Juanita Icalia. He is survived by sisters, Lauriena Wood of Puyallup, Washington and Sharon Gallagher of Salem, Oregon; brothers Paul, Rick, and Tim Icalia of Salem, Oregon; along with spouses of siblings, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He will be forever missed and loved by all.

 

A viewing will be held Saturday, May 22 from 4-8 pm at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service, 605 Commercial St SE, Salem, Oregon.

 

A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 29 starting at 2 pm at The Church, 4660 Portland Road NE, Salem, Oregon.
