     Funeral for Marylou Brown, 85, Salem, will be at 10 a.m. Friday March 12, 2010 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 721 Chemeketa St, NE, Salem, Oregon.

     Open casket will be at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service located at 605 Commercial St. S.E., Salem, Oregon on Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

     Rosary recitation will be held in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 9:30a.m. prior to the funeral.

     Marylou Brown died at 1:36 a.m. Monday, March 08, 2010 at her home of 49 years in Salem, Oregon.  She was 85 years, 3 months, and 13 days old. She was born about 2 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 1924 in Sterling, Oklahoma to Andrew Joseph Conway and Rosa Mary Conway (Maiden name, Fehring) the oldest girl of 8 children.  Marylou married Frank Edwin Brown on January 4, 1945 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sterling, Oklahoma.  They had 5 children all born in Oklahoma; Frank Joseph Brown, Edward Andrew Brown, Rosemary Kora, Frank Edwin Brown Jr., and Lucy Maria Ernst.  Frank, her husband passed away in 198l in Salem, Oregon.  Lucy, Marylou’s daughter, passed away in 1997 in Salem.  Marylou’s surviving siblings are Margaret Mae Cotten in Oklahoma City, OK, Rosa Mary Conner in Lawton, OK, James Edward Conway in Lawton, OK, and Joseph John Conway in Marlow, OK. Her Oregon descendants include 11 grandchildren; Melody, Andy, April, Kristen, Melinda (deceased as of 1990), Rick, Frank III, Angela, Kristina, Diana, and Steven, and 6 great grandchildren; Emily, Andrew, Natalie, Lucy, Frank IV, and Caitlin.

     Marylou was valedictorian of her high school in Sterling, Oklahoma.  After high school she went to work for Anthony’s Department store as a cashier.  She met Frank at a local dance.  Marylou also worked as a telephone operator before having children. After Frank died, Marylou Brown babysat in her home for a living until she retired.

     Frank and Marylou lived in Oklahoma, Indiana, Arkansas, Kansas and finally Oregon, coming to Salem in March 1957.  Her late husband Frank was a house builder.  One house that Frank E. Brown built in particular caught Marylou’s fancy and she then lived in that house from 1961 until present.
