Salem: Marilyn Wiley Todd passed away on October 10, 2009 at age 86. She was born on December 21, 1923, in The Dalles, Oregon, the youngest of Irving and Marjorie Wiley’s six children. She attended elementary schools in The Dalles and Rufus; University High in Eugene and graduated from Chiloquin High School. She attended the University of Oregon for one year where she was night editor of the Emerald. She remained a loyal Duck fan for the remainder of her life. After leaving Eugene, she worked in insurance for Yates, Lively and Pearson in Portland and for T.R. Hudson in The Dalles. She worked as a junior accountant for Coope Products in Winter Park, Florida, and later for Kaiser Shipyards Warehouse during World War II on The Dalles Port docks. While her children were growing up, she worked for KODL radio in The Dalles and the Oregon Department of Employment for 27 years (11 years in The Dalles and 16 years at the Administrative Office in Salem, the last four years of which she was the Manager of the Local Office.) She married William J. Todd in 1943, and they divorced in 1970. Upon retirement, she volunteered at the Salem Public Library for five years. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, playing bridge with her friends and cards with her children and grandchildren (“Trust everybody, but cut the cards!”), gardening and cheering on her beloved Ducks. A son, John Michael Todd preceded her in death as well as her siblings, Gilbert, Virginia, Rosalie and William. She is survived by her daughters Candace (husband Cruz Ribera; granddaughters: Carolina and Angelique and grandson Nick), Christine (husband Tom Anderson) and Teresa (husband Dan Rau and grandson Todd) and sons William (wife Lynne; granddaughter Krista and grandson Aaron); Jeffrey (wife Nancy and grandson Andy); and Victor (wife Sandra, granddaughters: Jessica and Christie); 12 great grandchildren; her older sister Margaret Wiley Kelly Wheeler and her sister-in-law Dorothy Wiley both of The Dalles; and 15 nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
