Salem - Loree, aka 'Butch' Oertel passed away peacefully on Sunday evening after a long and courageous battle against C.O.P.D. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska to Frank and Ella Mae Sullivan, she grew up with her three sisters, Marlene, Toni, and Kate. Loree met her future husband Bill, while he was in the Air Force, stationed in Lincoln. Eventually they would marry in Tacoma, WA, on Feb 24, 1967. In 1968 they adopted a little terror they named Kurt, and would eventually settle in Salem, Oregon. Loree's faith in God would be never be in question, right up to the moment she passed on.
Loree's biggest joy in life was watching her two grandchildren, Connor and Jaxon, at play in her home. C.O.P.D. limited her ability to enjoy life, but never the love for her family.
Loree is survived by her son Kurt, daughter-in-law Allison, and her two grandchildren, all of Salem. Also her sisters, and brother-in-law Rich, and numerous nieces and nephews in Nebraska.
The Oertel family wishes to thank Odyssey and Interim Health Care, for their kindness and compassion during the last few days of Loree's life. We can't thank you enough for bringing light into such a somber moment.
No more discomfort for you Mom. Hope you and Dad are enjoying an adult beverage together. Love you!
Loree's wishes were for no services to be held, but a private family ceremony for entombment next to her late husband Bill, at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church Adoration Chapel Fund, 721 Chemeketa St. NE, Salem, OR 97301.
Arrangements by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
