In loving memory

LESTER CLELLAND SEBERN
April 28, 1917 - Nov. 13, 2009

Salem – Lester Clelland Sebern was born in Vinton, Iowa, on April 28, 1917. He moved to Oregon with his parents and siblings when he was eight years old. Lester graduated from Salem High School in 1936. He worked for Boeing Aircraft, and maintained an active interest in flying and airplanes the rest of his life. One of his great thrills was a trip on the Concorde from New York to London.
He met his future wife, Gladys Schollian, playing golf at Oak Knoll Golf course. They were married on August 25, 1950, at First Christian Church in Salem. Lester worked for and retired from the Salem-Keizer School District in 1979. He was beloved by students and teachers alike.
Lester enjoyed football and wrestling and he took pride that he attended every Oregon State Fair from his arrival in Salem in 1935 through this year.
Lester is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gladys, his daughter Joanna Sebern Thompson, his son – in- law, Robert Thompson, plus many beloved nieces and nephews.
Lester’s family would like to thank the staff at Redwood Heights Assisted Living for their kindness to him.
