In loving memory

Geneva H. Robinson
January 15 1917 - January 28, 2009

Salem - Geneva H. Robinson, 91, of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2009. She was born in Hennessey, Oklahoma, graduating from high school there. Geneva attended Draughn’s Business College in Oklahoma City and became an accountant. She was employed by several businesses in Oklahoma and Salem and retired in 1982.

Geneva married Arthur O. Robinson in 1937. They made their home in Dover and Kingfisher, Oklahoma, Austwell, Texas, and moved to Salem in 1960.

She enjoyed the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron in Dover, Oklahoma twice and of Salem’s Chadwick Chapter once. She was currently a member of Salem Chapter #162. She was a member of First Christian Church and she and Art delighted in hosting their Sunday school class for parties at their home.

Geneva was a wonderful homemaker. Her hobbies included gardening, taking special pleasure in roses and sharing flowers with friends and neighbors. She made beautiful hand-work, including crocheting lovely tablecloths and knitting afghans by the dozen for her family. Keeping in touch with friends, many over 50 years, was a special joy to her. She also enjoyed music and had a lovely singing voice. She had a special wit, a determined nature, and a special fondness for poodles and the color pink.

She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Art, and their son, Gene Arthur. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Penney and Mike Ryan, their three children, Lori, Dain, and Shaun, as well as Gene’s two daughters, Melanie and Kelly, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Her family wants to thank the staff of Southern Hill Assisted Living who cared for her until the end.

Services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service in Salem with visitation preceding between 10:00 and noon. Internment will follow at City View Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Willamette Humane Society.
