Salem - Frances Knapp Hammer of Salem, Oregon passed away Monday, September 28, she was 90 years old. Frances was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Bertha and Russell Weatherford. Frances attended Southwest High school and the University of Kansas City. Frances became a Real Estate Broker in 1953 and for 21 years was under contract to the Sate of Oregon managing the rentals in the Capitol Mall.
In1944 Frances married Charles R. Knapp who preceded her in death in 1970. They had two sons, one son Charles Frances Knapp passed away in 1962 and John K. Knapp who now lives in Meridian, Idaho.
In 1976 Frances married Clarence “Bud” Hammer. After retirement in 1979 Frances and Clarence hit the road and traveled over most of the United States in their motor home. They were charter members of the River City Sams R.V. Club. They both loved to spend the winters at their home in San Carlos Mexico.
Frances enjoyed many interest and hobbies such as water color and oil painting. She loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. She has been known to have buck fever when spotting for husband; according to her husband Clarence.
Survivors are her loving husband Clarence, son John and daughter-in-law Deb. Stepdaughters and their husbands Susan and Larry Shank, Barbara and Maynard Lottridge, Lisa and Chuck Combs, 5 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Friday, October 2, 2009 at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service. There will be a graveside service at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Belcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
