Errol Pedersen, a long-time Salem resident, passed away peacefully at the age of 68 on September 7, 2009. Errol was born in Portland on July 15, 1941 and graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School in 1959. He attended the University of Oregon where he majored in history and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
Following his graduation in 1964, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy and was stationed in the Philippines. At the conclusion of his military service, Errol moved to Salem where he met and married Fe Garcia and had two children.
Errol later worked for the State of Oregon Employment Division until
his retirement in 1998. Throughout his life, Errol enjoyed model
railroading, videography, traveling, and supporting both the Boy
Scouts and the Argonauts Youth Band.
Errol was preceded in death by his wife in 1996. He is survived by his children David Pedersen andMichelle Pedersen. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 11, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Salem, 700 Marion Street NE. Donations can be made in Errol’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
