In loving memory

Elsie Stahl
September 17, 1913 - January 16, 2012

SALEM – Elsie Stahl went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 16, 2012 after an extended illness. She was 98. Elsie was born on September 17, 1913 in Leigh, Nebraska to Adolph and Hulda Miller. She married Erich Stahl in 1932; they farmed in Nebraska until 1935 when they moved to Salem with their two small children. Eventually they moved to the Middle Grove area and lived there until 1972. Elsie was a homemaker and loved gardening. She loved riding her bicycle to the store and going to garage sales. Elsie was a wonderful cook and baker and many happy hours were spent with friends and family around her dining room table. She was an avid crotchetier, embroiderer and quilter and made many family heirlooms. Most of all, she loved the Lord and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Salem. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Erich in 1995 and four brothers. She is survived by a daughter Magdalene (Frank) of Seaside, a son Edwin (Pat) of Salem and five grandchildren: Mark Royston, San Jose, CA, Craig (Christi), Oregon City, Ron (Joy) Wilsonville, Theresa (Jeff) Winn, Lincoln City, and Laura Stahl, San Francisco, CA. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Carson, Haley, Janelle, Katey, Olivia and Wyatt.
