Born in Chicago, IL, she moved to Southern CA in 1953; moved to Northern CA in 1982; and to Salem in 1992. She married Wayne Garvey June 2, 1940. She loved children and was a playground aide in California for 13 years. She loved playing Pinochle, Bingo, Bunco, Solitaire, and enjoyed bowling. Shirley had a great laugh and sense of humor. She was a beloved mother and grandmother whose memory will be deeply cherished, and she will be greatly missed. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Wayne. She is survived by her 5 children: Lugene (Ted) Petersen, Roger Garvey, Scott (Barbara) Garvey, Jill Donato, Holly (Curt) Jones; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and her sister, Virginia Abbott.
Memorial mass will be on Wednesday, July 28th, at 11:00 am at Queen of peace Catholic Church. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to Hospice of the Northwest.
