In loving memory

ELVA WEIGUM
April 13, 1915 - July 23, 2010

Keizer, Oregon passed from this life in the afternoon of July 23, 2010. She was born to Georgia and James Sowles on April 13, 1915 in Worthington, Minnesota and grew up in Lake Park, Iowa.  In 1946 she married Jacob Weigum and moved to a farm in Keizer.

She was an accomplished vocalist, having won many music competitions and awards. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, cooking, baking and sewing. In her later years, she found a real passion for knitting and made hundreds of caps, blankets and baby sweaters. Her knitted items were sent all over the world, including Russia and Romania.

She was the best Mom. She always was waiting at home for us after school with a homemade snack and a glass of milk.  She always knew where we were and what we were doing.  She was meant to be our mother. Our parents were proud of us and they made us feel that we were meant to be in the order we came and the way they named us and that together we made a complete family designed by God.

Elva leaves behind her four children: Kendall Kay Jacobsen-Sheng (Li), Kenneth Ray Weigum (Laurie), Linda May Jordan (Robert), and Lenny Jay Weigum.  In addition, six grandchildren: Melissa, Nicholas, Jennifer, Stephanie, Chellee, Brenda and eleven great-grandchildren, also, one niece and two nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Jacob and her sister Vera Harte.

A Memorial Service for Elva is planned for August 7th at 1:00 PM at Keizer Community Church. Contributions may be made to Keizer Community Church and the Union Gospel Mission. Arrangements by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
