Salem- Betty L. Hastay-Taylor was born March 10, 1913 in Cambridge, Idaho, and passed away Friday, November 27, 2009 at the age of 96.

 

She has lived in Salem since 1935. She married in 1937 Floyd A. Hastay, who preceded her in death in l982. She married Lester W. Taylor in l984, who also preceded her in death in l993.

 

She had worked for the State of Oregon Revenue Department until her retirement. She was a life member of 50 plus years with The Order of the Eastern Star Salem Chapter 162, White Shrine, and a member of Christ The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

 

Survivors include granddaughters, Debra (Gene) Hawkins, Olympic, Wa., Brenda (David) Bennett, McMinnville, Jody (Pat) Shatz, Bend, Or., grandsons, Jeff Steward, Salem, Tod (Julie) Steward, San

Mateo, Ca., daughter-in-law, Martha Hastay, Yuma, Az., Nephew, Bill (Uki) Layton, Los Angeles, Ca., Niece, JoAnn (Lark) Bauer, Salem, and three great-grandchildren. A son Richard Hastey preceded her in death in September, 2009.
