Salem- Dwight was killed in a tragic accident on Highway 18 near the Coast on Wednesday August 26.
He was born in Portland, Oregon on July 13, 1956 to Donald F. and Marian O. (Grina) Davis Iverson. He was raised in Portland and went to Roosevelt High School. He worked at McCormick & Baxter’s as a crane operator for over 10 years before moving to Salem in the early 1990’s. He worked for Redmond Homes in Silverton before getting involved in home construction and remodeling.
He met the love of his life, Shannon A. Socha in 1988. They were married April 9, 1994 in Portland, Oregon.
He loved his family and also over the years had many different kinds of pets but his most loved pets were his dogs, Tundra and Gypsy. He enjoyed destruction derbies and building models of vintage airplanes. He had a green thumb and loved raising exotic plants and all kinds of tropical fish. Pictures of his favorite things and collections hang on the walls of his home – family photos , the Moon landing, historical events, coins and pictures of wolves.
Christmas was a special holiday for him and he loved decorating his house with lights. It was always the best and brightest house ion the neighborhood.
He was loving, kind and patient. If you needed him, he was there and he would share all that he had. He was dearly loved and his loss will be felt my many.
He was preceded in death by his father, Don and his nephew, Shawn R. Perry. He is survived by his wife Shannon and his stepson Cody (Sarah) Harrle Jr., his mother Marian Iverson, his sister Betty (Bob) Perry, all of Salem, his niece, Lisa K. Bicknell of Grand Ronde and her two sons Daniel R. Bicknell and Steven Bathke.
Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Friday, September 4, 2009 at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
