Durwin “Ray” Piburn was born November 16, 1940, in Crawford, Colorado. He passed away on July 12, 2010 following complications related to surgery.
Durwin was born to Gordon and Charlotte Piburn, but raised by his oldest sister and her husband, George and Nona Osko.
He grew up in Salem and graduated from South Salem High School in 1959.
He was married to Geraldine Fendrich for 27 years and together they had three children.
He worked as an electrician for 35 years, retiring in 2007 from Wah Chang in Albany.
He remarried in 1997, and in his retirement he continued to work hard gardening and caretaking for his home with his wife Starla. They enjoyed 13 years together.
Durwin was blessed with a very caring, honest heart, and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing with his many life-long friends. He was loved very much and we miss him already.
Durwin is survived by wife Starla, his mother Nona Osko, brother Gordon Osko, and sisters Eileen Rosholt and Joan Osko. His children; Michelle Gould, Darin Piburn, Lisa Underwood and step-daughter Melissa Vanyi; grandchildren; Ashton, Jaden, Miranda, Dax, Mikayla, Rio, Keelan and Dillon.
Services will be held at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service, 605 Commercial St SE, Salem, Oregon 97302, on July 14, 2010, at 2:00 pm. Reception following.
