Doris McLachlan grew
up near and in Melbourne,
Australia. She met Victor
Scheetz during WW II. After
the war, they married, moved
to Portland and raised two
daughters. Time and
distance, however, never
dimmed Doris's love for her
"dear Aussies."      
     The couple eventually
retired in Salem. After 62
years of marriage, Victor
died in 2007. 
     Doris, the very soul of
love, was adored by all who knew her. She never
complained and always encouraged. Even animals
were attracted to her, from horses to
hummingbirds. She delighted in the little things.
She put everyone at ease
with her wonderful sense of
humor, enriching the
experience of those she
met. She was fiercely loyal
and protective. Even in her
last years, she was patient
and kind as a saint. We
are so blessed to have
known her.
