Donna Elois Combs, a resident of Salem for over 65 years went home to be with Jesus on July 5th 2010, after a series of illnesses. She was born November 1st, 1925 in Newman Grove, Nebraska as Donna Lymath.
On June 28th, 1945 in Vancouver, Washington she began her 60 year marriage to Robert Kenneth Combs, until his passing on Dec. 25, 2005. She was a devoted homemaker, school room mother for Salem Heights Elementary School, Red Cross volunteer and a volunteer server for the Meals On Wheels program at the Senator Hotel in Salem. She served both as a camp counselor and board member of Lutheran Camp Colton in Mollala, Oregon. She was an active member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and then later at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. During her active years she served as youth advisor to the Luther League, Women of The Church leader and as a choir member and Sunday School teacher for 30 plus years.
Donna is survived by her two daughters, Charlotte Christ and Carol Hanson both of Salem; her sister, Carol Gullstrom of Cornelius; granddaughter, Wendy Shea of Portland; grandson, Christopher Hanson of Salt Lake City, Utah; great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Noah Shea.
A celebration of Life Service is scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with a meal following the service. A memorial fund will be established for the youth camping program of the church.
