In loving memory

Connie J. Judd
September 5, 1938 - June 17th, 2009

Connie Judd died unexpectedly on June 17th, 2009 while vacationing with family on the big island of Hawaii.  Born in Boise, ID and raised in nearby Eagle, ID she moved to Salem in 1960 where she lived until her death. She attended and earned her B.A. at the College of Idaho and Master’s Degree from Oregon State University. She also did advanced study at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. 
As a dedicated and passionate educator, she taught at Hoover Elementary School and Chemeketa Community College in the Adult Education Department.  She belonged to Phi Lambda Theta, Orton Dyslexic Society, College ORLA Read and Learning Association, and she also served as a commissioner on the Oregon Disabilities Commission. Following her retirement, she was an active volunteer with the Assistance League of Salem Operation School Bell, and multiple ministries at First United Methodist Church of Salem where she was an active member.
She will forever be remembered first and foremost as a loving mother and grandmother who adored her family. She took great joy in the lives of those she loved. She also will be remembered for her fun loving spirit of adventure as she loved to travel, take part in numerous outdoor activities, and spend hours in her beautiful garden.
Survivors include a sister, Sue Davis of Meridian, ID; two children Kelly (Kyle) Roof of Albany, and Derron (Alice) Judd of Aiken, SC; eight Grandchildren- Samantha and Lauren of Albany, and Megan, Emily, Patrick, Nicholas, Brendan and Lillian of Aiken.
A celebration of life memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 24th, 2009 at United Methodist Church of Salem. Any memorial donations should be made to the Assistance League of Salem - Operation School Bell, 1095 Saginaw Street S, Salem Ore., 97301.  Arrangements by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service, Salem.
