In loving memory

CORRINE MARIE QUALLS
March 9, 1919 - May 21, 2010

Corrine Marie Qualls was born on March 9, 1919 in Little Falls, Minnesota, and passed away May 21, 2010 in Keizer, Oregon. She was 91 years old.

Corrine graduated from Custer County High School in 1937. On August 31, 1940 she was married to Leo Qualls in Billings, Montana. She and her husband, Leo, raised a family of two daughters, Lynda Stephens of Salem, Oregon, and Gwen Friesen of Bend, Oregon. They traveled the world together…for their church on Work and Witness Mission Trips…as well as traveling with friends on vacations. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1988.

Over the years she has lived in Montana, Roseburg, Oregon, Eugene, Oregon, Nampa, Idaho…and for the past 45 years in Salem, Oregon.

Corrine worked for the Department of Agriculture in Minnesota, for the Eugene School District…and from 1964 until his death worked along side her husband as they opened and managed the Hi Ho Restaurants in Roseburg, Salem and Clackamas, Oregon.

She enjoyed Needle Point…making a beautiful cushion for her daughter Gwen’s piano…and Knitting…making afghans and slippers for many of her family members. She also enjoyed reading…as many as 3 or 4 books a week.

Corrine loved the Lord and served her church family as a Sunday School Teacher in Eugene for many years…and then as a Church Choir Member in Salem for several years. She also volunteered at the Salem Library.

Corrine was a delight and a friend to everyone. She was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Most important of all…she served the Lord faithfully throughout her life.

Survivors include her brother: Harold Hedval of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her daughters: Lynda Stephens and her husband Fred of Salem, OR; Gwen Friesen and her husband Harlan of Bend, OR; her grandchildren: Tiffany Friesen Odiorne and her husband Dan of Bend, OR; Gretchen Friesen Schaffer and her husband Kevin of Bend, OR; and Dow Stephens and his wife Jennifer of Seoul, Korea; four great-grandchildren: Madison and Macy Odiorne and Jack and Will Schaffer; and many friends.

Corrine’s family gathered at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service for a Celebration of Life in her honor on May 26, 2010.

Those wishing to do so may make a contribution, in memory of Corrine, to the Salem First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund.
