Alice M. Coens, 85, died November 17, 2006 in Salem. Daughter to Emil and Margaret Mack, granddaughter to Frederick and Hattie Warnecke. Alice was born Februaryf 14, 1921 in Madison, Wisconsin. She attended Whitewater College and St. Mary's School of Nursing. Alice married Charles L. Coens on May 29, 1943 in Madison, Wisconsin. The couple made Madison their home for 43 years, raising 4 children, while Charles worked at U.S. Forest Products Laboratrory.

In 1986 the couple moved to Washington. Alice was very active along side her husband growing, showing ,judging, arranging, and sharing roses for many years. Her eye for beauty in nature, trees and clouds especially, kept her always in wondrous and grateful awe. Appreciation is extended to Michele and the gentle, loving staff at Pacific Living Centers-Hawthorne House and to Willamette Valley Hospice.

Alice is survived by Charles, her husband of 63 years; 2 sons, Ron of New Haven, Conn., and Gerald (Suzanne) of Portland, Ore.; 2 daughters, Donna (Everett) Wilcock of Renton, Wash., and Dolores (Ray) Weekly of Keizer, Ore.; and grandchildren Nigel Coens and Sarah Wilcock.

Private inurnment will take place at Sunset Memory Gardens in Madison, Wisconsin at a later date.
